The future of the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre is shining brightly with the opening of The Nest, the café and community space that opened in August 2025.
Following the appointment of a new operator by Folkestone & Hythe District Council, the building has been given a fresh identity. Open seven days a week, The Nest serves sustainably sourced refreshments and provides a friendly, welcoming space.
Romney Warren surrounds the café and is recognised as a Local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest for its fixed dune grassland and seasonal ponds, which support nationally significant populations of great crested newts, diving beetles, dragonflies and a variety of specialist spiders.
Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership, supported by the district council, continues to manage the nature reserve and will work closely with The Nest’s operator, including plans for collaborative nature-based events.
Visitors are invited to drop in, enjoy the café, and explore the wildlife, landscapes, and walking routes the reserve has to offer. More updates about upcoming events and opportunities can be found on The Nest's Facebook page.
