As we complete our final river clean of the year, the River Dour now enters its close season from November to April. During this period, a crucial time for the river’s ecosystem, no one should fish or enter the water, as this could disturb the spawning activity of brown trout.

If you see fishing activity on the Dour during the close season, please report it to the Environment Agency hotline: 0800 80 70 60

We’ll be back in the river from April, when entering the river is less likely to disturb wildlife.

Celebrating Our River Work in 2025

Between April and October our team and volunteers have made a significant impact through river clean-ups.

Across 14 sessions, including support from regular volunteers, corporate teams like DHL, and community groups such as Kent Refugee Action Network, we’ve achieved:

3,570 hours of volunteer activity delivered
127 bags of litter removed from the river
Over 85 individuals engaged through volunteering

Looking Ahead to 2026

We’ll be back in the river from April 2026, once the close season ends and it’s safe to resume clean-up work. If you’d like to get involved, now’s a great time to register as a volunteer.
