Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership
The Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership (RMCP) was established in 1996 to help conserve and enhance the landscapes, wildlife and habitats of Romney Marsh and Dungeness. It was created when the work of the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership (WCCP) expanded to include Romney Marsh.
While WCCP and RMCP operate in different areas and under different partnership names, they work together as one organisation with a shared purpose and team. Supported by our partners, volunteers and local communities, we now manage 19 nature reserves covering almost 1,000 hectares across southeast Kent.
Caring for Romney Marsh's Wildlife and Landscapes
Across Romney Marsh and Dungeness, RMCP helps care for some of the area's most important habitats and wildlife-rich landscapes. We manage a range of sites, including Dungeness National Nature Reserve, Greatstone Dunes and Romney Warren Local Nature Reserve, while also supporting projects that improve habitats and create new homes for wildlife across the Marsh.
We are currently creating and restoring ponds across Romney Marsh and further afield into Folkestone and Dover as a delivery partner for Natural England's District Level Licensing Scheme. If you are interested in creating or restoring a pond (minimum size 10m × 15m), please get in touch at RMCP@dover.gov.uk or contact Steff on 07864 608825 for more information.
Events and Activities
Helping people connect with nature is a key part of our work. Throughout the year, we organise guided walks, cycle rides, volunteer tasks and family-friendly events that encourage people to explore, enjoy and learn more about the local environment. Take a look at our events page to see what's coming up.
Visit The Nest at Romney Warren
Visitors to Romney Warren Local Nature Reserve can also enjoy The Nest, a café and retail space located within the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre. Situated alongside the reserve, it provides an excellent base from which to explore the wildlife and landscapes of Romney Warren and the wider Romney Marsh area.
