International Women’s Day Walk at Pegwell Bay Country Park

Event Date: 04/03/2026 10:00 - 12:00

To celebrate International Women’s Day, our Sandwich Bay Ranger Helena is teaming up with Education Officer Faye from Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory to offer a free guided walk at Kent County Council's Pegwell Bay Country Park.

We will be looking out for birds and other wildlife, giving you the chance to boost your skills and confidence in wildlife identification, discover a new place, and connect with nature and like-minded people.

This event is LGBTQ+ inclusive, and is open to women of all backgrounds and experience levels – from seasoned birders to those just starting their wildlife journey.

All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

It is free to attend but spaces on the walk are limited so please book your space.
Please remember to cancel if you can no longer attend, so other people might be able to come along.

The walk will last approximately 2 hours – plenty of time to feel inspired and empowered to protect our wildlife.

Event Location - Sandwich Bay

Sandwich Bay is a long sweeping bay, which stretches from the north of Deal up to the mouth of the River Stour. The River Stour separates Sandwich Bay from Pegwell Bay. The Bay is characterised by a variety of important habitats such as shingle and sand beach, sand dunes, mudflats, and saltmarsh. The Bay backs onto grassland, wetland and scrub, including farmland and golf courses.

Sandwich Bay is internationally important for wildlife and is designated a National Nature Reserve, Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation. Find out more about the work we’re doing to raise awareness about the special wildlife and to reduce disturbance.
