Money Broom Workshop
Event Date: 24/10/2026 10:00 - 13:00
Free Event
Join us for a unique workshop that combines conservation, folklore and traditional craft, exploring how an invasive species can be transformed into something useful.
The workshop will begin with a guided walk around High Meadow where Ranger Miranda will explain how invasive species are being managed on site and take a closer look at Canadian goldenrod. Rather than viewing the plant solely as a problem, we’ll explore how materials removed as part of habitat management can be creatively repurposed.
We’ll also gather natural materials from High Meadow before returning to the Mel Wrigley Hub, where you’ll learn how to make your own broomstick using dried goldenrod and other locally harvest natural materials, creating a unique keepsake to take home.
A great opportunity to learn more about nature conservation and folklore whilst learning new skills!
This workshop is suitable for those aged 16 or older. No previous experience or skills required.
Free but booking required.
