Conservation Volunteers
Our conservation volunteers are essential to managing our nature reserves, contributing to a variety of tasks that help protect and preserve these vital habitats. Alongside practical habitat work, our river volunteers play a key role in caring for the River Dour. They support regular litter picks along the river and record key species found in and around the water, collecting valuable information that helps us monitor the river’s health and biodiversity.
We organise tasks across several locations as part of our volunteer programme. The areas we cover include:
- Romney Marsh: Greatstone Dunes, Romney Warren, Dungeness, Gibbins Brook
- Folkestone: Folkestone Downs, Folkestone Warren, Shorncliffe
- Dover: Fort Burgoyne, Samphire Hoe, Walmer & Kingsdown Beach, River Dour, Western Heights, High Meadow, Whinless Down, South Foreland Valley, Spinney Wood
Task days typically run from 10 AM to 3 PM. We provide all necessary equipment, training, and of course, tea and biscuits!
